Research Note

The accepted surname of Sarah is Rennolds or Reynolds, and many researchers state that her parents are Cornelius and Martha Reynolds of Essex County, VA. I have been unable to locate any records that prove this. Corenelius Reynolds names his 7 children including Sarah in his 1734 will. His wife Martha mentions 6 children including the married names of her daughters, but does not name daughter Sarah for unknown reasons.

DAR records indicate a death date for Sarah Dishman being after 21 Jun 1808 and cite the lawsuit Dishman vs Hord as the source. This is an error as the Sarah Dishman named in that suit is the unmarried daughter of David Dishman Sr.
