MilitaryFrom 16 May 1861 - 1865He served on the Confederate side as a private From 16 May 1861 - 1865. He enlisted for 1 year on 16 May 1861 at King George court house and was assigned to Company C of the 47th Virginia Infantry. He re-enlisted on 16 May 1862 for the duration of the war. In January 1863 he was transferred to Company G of the 15th Virginia Cavalry under Lt. Col. Critcher. He was treated at Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond several times during his service. In May 1862 he as admitted for treatment of unspecified wounds and afever. In October 1863 he was admitted and treated for "neuralgia" and returned to duty in January 1864. He was admitted again in June 1864 for treatment of diarrhea and returned to duty in September 1864.7,8,9
