Margarie White Coffee

When weary with the toilsome journey, tis sweet to rest awhile, Margarie White Coffee, 94, of Forest, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016,at 2:18 a.m. She was the wife of the late H. Noell Coffee for 62 years.

Born in Blacksburg, Va., July 1, 1922, Margarie was the oldest child of the late John Edward and Myrtle May White.

Margarie is survived by her three sons, Harry Noell Coffee Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Lynchburg, David T. Coffee and wife, Susan, of Green Valley, Arizona, and Allen B. Coffee of Forest; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, to all of whom she was known as "Granny"; two sisters, Carol Artois of West Point, Va., and Shirley Mitchell of Forest; and two brothers, Arnold White of Forest and Dr. Gerald White of Lexington, Ky.

Margarie was predeceased by a brother, Curtis White; and two sisters, Loraine Jordan and Vernelle Riddle.

Margarie was a graduate of New London Academy and attended Lynchburg College.

She was a member of Forest Baptist Church where for many years she served as clerk and taught Sunday school. She was also an active member of Gideon's International Auxiliary.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Forest Baptist Church. A Celebration of Margarie's life will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Forest Baptist Church with Dr. Tyler Scarlett and Dr. Gaylen Leverett officiating. Interment will be at Virginia Memorial Garden.
