Samuel Beale Dishman passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the age of 81. Sam, or Beale as he was known to his family, was born on August 1, 1936 in Warsaw, Virginia to Charles Edgar and Beatrice Gallagher Dishman. He graduated from Warsaw High School and Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. He had a long career as a business and sales manager, and he served his country as member of the United States Army. He was an avid golfer and recreational aviator, and made several cross-country trips in his Beechcraft Bonanza, including circumnavigating the North Pole.
He is survived by his four children – Beatrice Anne Dishman Stong of Houston, Texas; Rebecca Lynn Dishman of Houston, Texas; Frederick Mark Dishman and Jenna Hollinger of Waihiwa, Hawaii; Katharine Joyce Dishman Richards and Ron Richards of Katy, Texas; three grandchildren – Maile Kananiokala Hollinger, Cameron Paul Richards, and Rachel Kay Richards, and his brother Edward Stewart Dishman of Richmond, Virginia. He was also survived by his many nieces and nephews who lovingly called him "Uncle Elvis, the King of Uncles". He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers William, Clyde, Charles (Curtis), Howard, and Franklin; sisters Dorothy, Elizabeth, Ruth, Martha (Polly), and Sarah; and son-in-law Larry Stong. A celebration of his life is being planned for the Spring in Houston, Texas.
