John Chancey Allensworth, Jr., 85, of Rollins Fork, King George County, died Friday, November 25, 2016, at his home.
Born on May 12, 1931, Mr. Allensworth was a native and lifelong resident of King George County. He graduated from King George High School in 1948. He served with distinction in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart. For many years he worked as a Combat Systems Analyst at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren.
Mr. Allensworth was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He was also an accomplished farmer, well known for his magnificent cabbages. He will be remembered as a quiet, dependable, hard-working man admired by all.
Survivors include a stepson, Dusty Remington (Gail) of Westmoreland; two sisters, Sara Burgess of Dahlgren and Marie Sapanara of Spotsylvania; dear friend and companion Lynn Nichols; and many nieces and nephews. He was the widower of Kaye E. Allensworth.
A memorial service officiated by Pastor Randy Allensworth will be held at Storke Funeral Home, Nash and Slaw Chapel, King George, on Friday, December 2 at 11am followed by a private graveside service
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 13457 Kings Hwy, King George, VA 22485.
